The Lodge Blog

Welcome to this blog!

It's almost 4 years since I first saw the plot of land that was going to become the beautiful holiday rental that you see today.

Many guests love it so much here that they often ask how much is it to live here - here are the (not so) fun facts:

Lodges have to be bought outright, i.e. there is not a mortgage option.

Single lodges.

If you buy a new single lodge, they are currently around £145,000.

Only new single lodges can be located by the lake.

Single lodges have to be moved off the plot after 20 years.

If you buy a second-hand single lodge that is currently by the lake it will be moved off to another area of the site called Edelweis, which is not by the lake.

Ground rent is currently just over £4000 a year and this includes water.

Double Lodges.

If you buy a new double lodge, they are currently anything between £275,000 and £350,000.

A double lodge can stay on the lake for 40 years.

If you buy a second-hand double lodge (which is what I did for myself) they are much less money,  and they can stay on the lake for the remaining number of years that are left out of the 40.

Ground rent is currently around £5000 a year for a double lodge and this includes water.

Many people live here all year round, and pay council tax on top of the ground rent.

It’s not cheap, and many people don’t want to do it because the value of the singles in particular depreciate rapidly. However, money doesn’t always have to be about investment and growth. By moving here, I feel that I have invested in myself, and I absolutely love it.
