What a lovely place to stay. Really comfortable, everything you need. The dogs had a blast. The maps for the walls are a brilliant idea. We tried to fit in as many as we could in our short time here The hot tub was a nice addition too. The welcome pack was fantastic, digs lived the treats and the luxury bits for us humans were lovely. The only downside was to trying to convince my dog not to go swimming (there are gates) . Thanks for letting us stay.

Not sure who will miss this place more - us or the dogs!
We’ve had a fabulous relaxing holiday as a birthday treat.
Absolutely LOVED feeding the ducks and swans, we simply had to go and buy them more food.
We have never stayed somewhere so secure and doggy friendly that they were immediately settled and happy!

We have just returned from a lovely 4 night break and Can not recommend this lodge or Ali the owner enough the lodge itself and the outside space are fantastic and spacious.Ali has thought of everything you name it It’s there.The outside space is very secure No chance of your dog escaping which means you can completely relax.The jetty with the seating at the bottom right next to the lake is pure bliss.The welcome gifts that you receive are very thoughtful Ali greeting us on our arrival was lovely so nice to have such a friendly and approachable owner.Any questions,queries or concerns Ali messages you back right away.The fields to the front of the lodge and that fantastic lake to the back is bliss.Lots of seating outside and gated off sections it’s lovely. Sun shining,Hot tub, fantastic view of the lake,lovely walks,secure outside,friendly/approachable owner,fabulous/spacious lodge what more could you want.We will definitely be returning 5*

Just returned from a short break at the Retreat.
The thought and care that has been taken to make your stay easy is wonderful. There is no need to take salt, cling film, ketchup type of thoughtful.
Eddie, our Bull terrier, felt right at home as he was allowed to do as he does at home - i.e., sleep where he wants too 😂.
Welcome packs are delicious and such a treat.
We forgot sheets - Eddie sleeps on bed- and Ali popped these around so quickly for us.
Weather was a bit too hot for the dog to do much exploring, but we enjoyed feeding and watching the ducks, swans and geese from the deck.

The Lakeside Retreat is very aptly named, we returned home relaxed and fully refreshed. Ali has provided a well-equipped and very comfortable home from home and gave us a warm welcome too. My husband and I, my son and daughter-in-law, my other son, and our four dogs (two blacks labs and two Daxies) had a fab time there and missed the beautiful lake as soon as we left. My daughter-in-law paddle boards so loved being able to spend lots of time on the water. The restaurant bar welcomed us in (including our dogs) and they had an excellent cover band playing a wide variety of genres. We also loved the local town too. I can’t praise this lovely place enough, a really super break ♥️

We stayed at the Lakeside Retreat with our two dogs for a week's holiday 9th - 16th June 2023. We knew from previous reviews and comments that the accommodation would be good, but we were absolutely delighted at just how good it actually was! The lodge was bigger than expected, meticulously clean, and well equipped with very close attention to detail. We immediately felt the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the place, so were able to settle in within minutes of arriving.
The uninterrupted views across the lake were a joy to wake up to .... so beautiful and peaceful. There was a large canopy to protect us from the full sun over the front of the veranda, and we were very grateful for the air conditioning inside. That alone was a thoughtful luxury rarely seen in any UK holiday home. We also enjoyed the top of the range hot tub overlooking the lake .... another very special treat!
There are many places that are dog friendly, but this one went far beyond anything we had experienced before! Not only did the owners provide a lovely welcome pack for us two-legged guests, the dogs had theirs too, along with treats, comfy beds, bowls, an enclosed garden to run around in, gates separating the different areas to keep them safe, and permission to climb on the furniture (protected with our own throws). They also had their own warm outside shower and even collars embroidered with details of where they were staying. The only thing we needed to bring was their food and leads!
I can honestly say that this was the best holiday I'd taken with my dog in 15 years! I recommend it to anyone at any time of year. We will most certainly be coming back!

Tranquil, Accommodating and Relaxing.
We were meant to bring our dogs but one became ill before travelling so Daddy & dogs stayed back home. 3 hours travelling from Southampton and it was worth every hour.
The most beautiful spot, so calm and peaceful.
Ali was fantastic every step of the way. All facilities were well thought of and the welcome gifts were a huge bonus.
So excited to come back for Christmas this year!

Writing this on the Eve of our departure and so sad to be going home. This place has felt like a home from home.
We couldn’t decide whether to bring our dog with us but so glad we did. He has loved it and the dog friendly nature of the accommodation has meant we could relax too, knowing he had space to roam outside which was safe and secure.
The view, the hot tub, feeding the ducks and my husband able to kayak from the jetty has all made for a wonderful short break.

We arrived late after a day filled with snow, hail, wind and rain, and were welcomed by a warm hot tub, tea, and a few great films! We had a fab weekend feeding the ducks, relaxing and making fused glass art - all with a beautiful lakeside view. We even had sun (unexpectedly!) for the majority of the time! Will definitely be back again.

We love it 🥰 It’s just perfect for us and more importantly our 4 dogs. Bring your own bedding and throws and they can go on the furniture! The outside space is so big for them to run around and beautifully arranged, secluded & secure plus an outside hot water dog shower for those mucky pups! Also a dog bed, bowls, toys, and leads incase you forget. Dog walks not far either! The king sized bed is super comfortable, best nights sleep for a while, en-suite with a bath! Smart TV’s in both bedrooms. Kitchen has a full sized fridge & freezer, cooker and a washing machine too! A stunning view over the lake with a private jetty to fish or launch a paddle board or kayak from. Also lots of lovely little thoughtful extra’s. A welcome pack and Ali is super kind & helpful ❤️ What more could you wish for!! We love it that much we have booked to come back 🥰

Comfortable and calming break away. Myself and 3 dogs loved our first visit. The lodge had everything and more. Took the digs to a secure filled called Field for Paws, which they loved.

We had the most amazing stay at the lodge with our 3 pups pre Xmas and wow, it was worth every penny! We’ve never felt so relaxed here and our pups had the time of their lives! Will be back no doubt when the weathers a bit warmer but what a place to visit!

Our second peaceful and soul reviving stay at the lodge! We love the space (it’s toasty warm) watching the wildlife on the lake and the lovely walks with our senior dogs.
Thank you for the welcome pack and the treats for the dogs (which they have enjoyed immensely). The easy access to the fenced off outside area is a bonus with dogs at this time of year.

Recently returned from a fantastic Christmas break. The owner Ali really goes the extra mile and made our stay unforgettable. There is nothing that hasn't been thought of. The lodge was beautifully decorated for Christmas and looked stunning. Cleanliness is absolutely 10/10.
The views are amazing and the local area is lovely, a visit to Stamford was really nice on Christmas Eve. The lodge really is a home away from home with everything you could possibly need. Cooking a full Christmas dinner was not a problem at all.
Booking process was straightforward and great communication leading up to our stay with really helpful information provided. We would not hesitate to return in a heartbeat !!

Hi my name is Autumn, I’m 9 years old.
As soon as I walked into the lodge, my mind was blown. I absolutely loved the look of the rooms and how they’re decorated so nicely. My mum and dad felt the same way.
Without being here for a day, I still know that this was one of the best places that I have ever been to. IT IS AMAZING!

I booked the lodge after seeing the bonfire night stay advertised - watching the fireworks over the lake from the privacy of our own balcony. It sounded perfect.
We wanted a weekend to just relax and not do a single thing apart from reading a lot, napping and cooking delicious meals together, and that's exactly what we got! I can see how you can also have a lovely adventurous stay too - that might be in the warmer weather for us.
The lodge warmed up quickly with full instructions for both the heating and the air con unit that does heating too. The kitchen was well-equipped and even had things like oil, condiments, etc. Full sized fridge and freezer was perfect for taking ingredients with us. The duvet was SO comfortable that I actually took a photograph of the label to go and buy one for our home. And the place was very clean, and I loved having access to a really good vacuum cleaner so that we could clean up our dogs' hairs before leaving.
Watching the fireworks from the balcony was absolutely magical. It was great that we could have the dogs safely inside but were able to see them from the patio doors, so that we could check how they were.
The dogs LOVED it so much. You can tell that the owner has dogs and has thought of everything, from plenty of food and water bowls to the crates available in the shed. The garden and gate layout was perfect for controlling where the dogs went but also keeping them secure. They loved to get right on the deck and look at the ducks coming to say hello to them.
Also appreciated the checklist before we left - or else we would have forgotten something or other.
I can't wait to go back, it was pure bliss.

Our second stay and we had a great time again.
Everything was just as good as we remembered it and it was lovely to enjoy some good weather too.

What a wonderful place to stay! The views and wildlife, stunning. The lodge itself has everything you need. The personal touches like fresh flowers and the welcome pack were lovely.
The weather was lovely and the deck has a nice shade to keep you cool.
The Wi-Fi was excellent.
Both into photography, so many images taken.
Lots to do without having to travel too far.

We were actually a bit blown away on arrival. This is a stunning property, beautifully decorated with THE most incredible views across the lakes- and perfectly set up with well positioned gates to ensure our pup was safe and easy to ensure he was not near the water.
Children and adults and our pup had the best time- we we able to SUP and kayak together as the owner so kindly dog sat for us.
We also climbed, swam in the pool, in the lake, tobogganed, chilled, and it was still so so relaxing due to the location of that deck…
Pup was happy to watch the birds from there too.
We have booked to return. What better recommendation than that?
The lodge is super spacious, fab storage space and even had a bath!
We just loved it - super relaxing.
Thank you to Ali for a wonderful welcome surprise too- including dog treats and his own bed!
It all felt super special.
The walk around the perimeter of the lake was fab, on lead required, but the owner also provided many details of a number of lovely local walks and parks too.

Lovely lodge. So kind leaving extra treats. My boys loved feeding all the birds. If anyone is looking for a fantastic day out we totally recommend Duxford Imperial War Museum. An hour away but worth it!

Really enjoyed our week here, in this beautiful lodge. We brought our own kayaks so it was great to be able to launch them from the deck at the lodge (watched by the swans, geese, and their babies). We kayaked, rented paddle boards, jet skied and it was great.
The lodge is amazing & has everything you need. Clean, spacious, and the beds are really comfy.
Safe place for dogs & some great walks - around the lake, Southay Wood, Stamford river walk.
We will definitely be coming back!

Wonderful relaxing break in this beautiful lodge. Everything has been thought about and we wanted for nothing.
Lovely to sit watching/feeding the ducks, swans, geese and their babies.
We went to Brancaster beach,about 1.5 hrs away and had a lovely walk in Bourne Wood, 10 mins away.
Good sized Sainsburys in Bourne as well.

A super couple of days spent here.
The experience of geese flying overhead is quite special to sit and watch. All three doggies enjoyed being spectators of the busy wildlife on the lake too.

Our family ( husband, 3 year old son and I) have just spent an amazing 4 days here. On entering our son said " wow mummy this is amazing and so beautiful, we can stay here"
The lodge is so peaceful, the veiws are stunning and the owners have thought of everything to really make it a home from home.
We will definetly be returning and this time bringing the dog 🐶. Our son is already asking when he can go back!

Wow! My husband and I - plus 2 dogs - spent an amazing 4 nights recently at this beautiful lodge overlooking the lake. Firstly the lodge is positioned in the best place to capture all the wildlife and scenery the lake offers basking in tranquility! The lodge itself was fabulous! Absolutely anything and everything you would possibly need. Really comfortable king size bed with a wonderful en suite. Well equipped kitchen with full size fridge/freezer. The decking and outdoor areas were great - a small garden as well which worked perfectly for our dogs! Ali’s own finishing touches of her creativity gave the lodge that unique feel! There was nothing to fault at all! Amazing weather for March - amazing accommodation- what more could you ask for! We will be back most definitely 👌it really is a gem!

We have had a wonderful relaxed two days, and have already checked the website for when we can come back.
Our 3 year old has loved sitting on the deck with the binoculars, watching all of the birds. It is the quietest we think he has ever been!
3 year olds talk with their feet, and his do not want to leave. ( to be honest, neither do ours)

We had a great stay at this wonderful lodge. We loved the peace and tranquillity only disturbed by the sounds of ducks and geese.
The lodge was so comfortable and well equipped- a real home from home. We enjoyed exploring the local area and the bar and restaurant on site was great.

Wow! We loved the lodge from the moment that we walked through the door. A perfect Retreat as a special treat. We’ve walked, read and relaxed - the perfect weekend.
As a family of 4 we often struggle to cook in places despite being advertised as ‘fully equipped kitchen’ but not here - cooking with that view has been a pleasure.
Added bonus - our first lie in beyond 8 am for 6 years thanks to the TV in the twin room!
So happy we’ve booked again, but also hoping to return in the summer to enjoy the facilities.

We have just returned from a week at the retreat. Beautiful accommodation, beautiful views and a lovely area to relax and rejuvenate. The lodge is a lovely warm and spacious accommodation with everything you need for a holiday. The lake and local area is breath taking so we didn't need to venture too far for the whole week. Our dogs were also well considered, including treats for them in the welcome pack.
We will most definitely be recommending the retreat to family and friends and we look forward to returning later in the year.

What a lovely lodge! So beautiful and peaceful. We did exactly what we wanted to do, which was nothing! We just wanted to chill out and relax, and that’s what we got. Dodger loved looking out onto the lake watching the ducks. Just watching the world go by.

We have stayed at many places that state they are "dog friendly"
Tallington Lakes is truly dog friendly.
The outside space is totally secure. They is a warm water tap with attachments to wash down your pooches ( there is even dog shampoo)
Inside there is everything supplied for a four legged guest.
Towels, food bowls, treats, spare leads, even a crate if needed.
The owners just request you bring your own throws/bedding if your dog is used to a cuddle on the settee or sleeps next to you at night. This is a true gem. So many places don't allow this. This makes for a very relaxing stay knowing that you are not freting about furniture etc.
The site is also dog friendly with plenty of poo bins around the lake and the onsite pub/ restaurant are very happy to have dogs. Peggy was brought a bowl of water and a treat before I'd had time to look at the menu!
I have stayed once before and booked another stay before leaving.

A wonderful 2 night break in this superb 5* lodge. A beautiful setting. The storm didn’t detract (we just admired the lake and wildfowl from the window).
Ali you’ve decorated and equipped the lodge first class. I live the bright colours that are a ‘nod’ to smartsy glass! I enjoyed hunkering down listening to the wind whilst making my fused glass Christmas trees. We didn’t venture far due to the inclement weather, just a Stamford and Burghley House Christmas fair.
It is a real retreat which was just what we needed and we will look forward to coming again so we can enjoy the outside in better weather. However we were warm and cosy, just perfect!

What a beautiful place, so,quiet and peaceful the perfect place to recharge! My own perfect place to do some glass fusion.
Ali you have considered every detail, the outside tap was well used, so many extras that you don’t usually get in most holiday rentals. Great welcome pack! Thank you.
We visited Waterside garden centre and enjoyed the Christmas display although no 4 legged friends are allowed so one of us stayed outside with her.

Lovely girls trip away, although we are quite local to Tallington, we felt like we had a really break!
4 ladies with 4 paddle boards - this was the perfect destination !
Right in the lake, lovely terrace with outdoor sofas and blankets, gorgeous lodge, and added bonus of Netflix!! Will def return !

what an amazing beautiful lodge and situated on a stunning lake.
Myself and 3 friends needed a gateway and this was absolutely just what we needed.
The welcome pack was lovely with having all the basic essentials just made it even more relaxing and worry free. The finishing touches in the lodge make it 5 star 🌟. It was definitely luxurious bedding, towels and blankets.
We are looking for a date when the water sports centre is back open as we all want to have a go at paddle boarding.

Returned home on the 01/10/21 from a 3 night stay, where we were desperate for a break. It hammered with rain everyday and very windy also. But we were tucked up on a cosy sofa bing watching TV or reading whilst watching the weather pass us by! We had not a care in the world. And it was perfect for us. We totally switched off and was very comfortable. Just a warning about trying to get out of bed in the morning tho - the quilt is like the vortex! It was super perfect 😍
Ali was great at keeping in contact to ensure we were happy and always at the end of the phone.

We have just returned from a short taster break at the Lakeside Retreat.We are a couple and went with our dog.From the moment we arrived and saw the view from the lounge window we were smitten.The lodge was spotless, well stocked with tea, coffee and welcome goodies.It is brilliantly stocked for your dog as well, with bowls, leads, collar tags, toys and beds.We had lovely walks around the lake which our dog especially enjoyed.Ali the owner was very quick to solve a small problem we encountered, infact instantly, and was always on hand to answer any questions.The whole break was so relaxing and everyone on site very friendly including the staff at the Lakeside bar and Restaurant.We would definitely totally recommend a stay here, infact we will certainly be returning ourselves, once we can fit it in.

The Lakeside Retreat was the most amazing place….. there was so much to do on and off site.
The lodge itself is absolutely beautiful and Ali was always on hand with any queries.
The site had so much to do, as a family (children 5 & 6) we went rock climbing, swimming, tobogganing and jet skiing. We also went to a nearby children’s play centre which was AMAZING, the best we’ve ever been! There are also lots of supermarkets close by such as, Morrison’s, Asda, Tesco and a co op, there is also a next, m&s and Matalan in case you forget anything (like me) 🤣.
There are so many lovely local pubs and an amazing Italian restaurant called Tonino’s nearby as well a very nice chippy.
Everything you need is close by.
We took our two dogs and we more or less took them everywhere with us, there are so many dog friendly places and pubs and beautiful walks.
We will definitely be returning in the future and mad the best family memories. Thank you so much Ali ❤️

The accomodation is so clean and comfortable and the outdoor space and views are stunning Ali is a wonderful host and goes the extra mile to ensure you have everything you need and enjoy your stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending this beautiful place for a relaxing stay and hope to visit again next year.
